I came cross my first book containing manga when I was in my late teens visiting my home town of Leeds for my birthday, where I came across a shop called Forbidden Planet.

While I was in there, I discovered a series called Trigun which is about a lovable gun slinging idiot, well that’s how I am going to explain it, I say check the series out to find out what the actual plot of Trigun is.

Anyway, this was my first introduction in manga & later anime. I didn’t really obsess about it til my college years where I discovered One Piece, which I have been reading nearly every week since helping me discover other similar series such as Naruto etc. I’ve got the Shonen Jump app on my phone to check out new chapters of One Piee, Boruto, Akane-banashi, Chainsaw Man & Spy x Family to name a few.

I’ve been lucky to have been to Japan a few years ago (which I am planning on going back late next year) where I found many shops dedicated to anything anime & manga related and visited the One Piece tower which was a great experience.

In recent years I even collected the whole manga collection of Trigun which I had to sell a few years ago as I needed the money, I have always regretted it but might try to get the collection again in the future. I am better getting the trigun collection than the One Piece manga which is still ongoing.

Around the time I discovered Trigun, I found a series called Ranma 1/2. I would go into why the series is important to me but I’ve already done it, which you can find here.

I suppose Ranma 1/2 opened the genre of Gender Bending & crossdressing in manga that (I am ok with anything part from its chibi or loli) has really appealed to me who is transitioning because of the different ways in different art styles of people dealing with a sudden change in their life or dealing with someone close in their life who has.

Some stories have dealt with these difficult subject matters despite being brought up in the late 80s/90s way ahead of it’s time with comedy mixed in.

All of a sudden since early march this year I’ve been obsessed with these gender bending/cross-dressing genre manga online, with some stories I stayed up the early hours to read even on my day off.

There has been some series that have left their place in my heart alongside One Piece, Trigun and Ranma, be it because of it’s subject matter because of what I am going through at the moment.

Wandering Son, a series that I stayed up the early hours to binge all the way through as it really got to me as I felt like the author saw me growing up & added bits because the main character & me were both in school thinking similar things about girls, trying on girls clothes at home (I was only caught by my mum dressing in girls clothes at home, I cross dressed at my friends house to unlike getting caught by a friend as the panel above shows) and having your brother/sister disliking what you are doing. The other different between me and the main character was a lot younger than me going out in public dressed me as I didn’t do that til I was in college. I really went through a range of emotions with this series that I will hunt the volumes down of these when I am in japan next year.

Until it become me, alongside all the series I have mentioned above is very high in my personal ranking of the manga I have ever read. This is about a boy who bullies girls, who wakes up the next day as one and then has to deal with the changes.

It takes itself seriously if you had to deal with karma coming back and biting you on the ass with comedy only appearing at times.

I can’t praise this series enough but it’s small and it’s hard to support officially outside of Japan as that’s the only way you can buy the books without costing a bit via ebay.
