Book Fair in a Museum | Announcement: I’m taking a break

Hello everyone!

In this post I will be talking about my second book fair appearance of the year and after that I will talk about a break I will be going on from when this post goes live.

I learnt a lot from my first book fair appearance at Market Harborough, that I spent most of the week until the night before working on improvements on my stall.

The first thing was to change the table cloth, as the new one I had was so much better!

I even produced some prints of the main characters to help make the table stand out more.

I was so happy with the change, plus where I was compared to the week before, I had space for both of my tall banners of the book & yours truly, I’m not vain but good to know you can see my mug from a distance. I got to the museum early and was one of the first people to set up. With the new changes, it only took a few minutes to set the table, so I spent awhile just watching everyone else set up their stalls.

Something that I did that I didn’t do for whatever reason the weekend before, was networking!

I made sure to chat to other stall holders, a few of them were doing book fairs for the first time, so it was great to chat and connect through the socials. I did get a pile of business cards & bookmarks that I wanted to show, but they are in a place I can’t get to at the time of me writing this, but I will most likely show them off at a later date.

As previously mentioned, I ran Bonfirecherry from 2013 and did plenty of craft fairs, not long after I started I did a fair not far from where I live and I met Jenni from The Craft Fantastic. She is someone who knew me as Matt first before me changing my name, I have always loved the friendship we’ve had, hence she has a character inspired by her in The Trip Between the Two/Between Us, There is a Wish (re-imagine, coming soon).

So it was a highlight of the day to do an event with her also having a stall, with her amazing products!

That’s all about the fair out of the fair, I have decided to take a break from anything book related until I get an update from a literary agent, as that’s the only thing stopping me from carrying things on at this time.

Some might say “Didn’t you have a break earlier in the year?” From promoting & posting on socials yes, while dealing with my now ex-publisher, but all the behind the scenes stuff I can’t even share now as it will make me look unprofessional took a toll on me mentally to get my rights back, it was a pain in the ass sending numerous emails & sorting things out when rights were reverted that should have been done by something else. It honestly hurt me, especially after spending months working on TTBTT, but said people ruined that for me. It’s why I am determined to get someone better for my story.

This change did kill the drive for promoting, but I can assure you, when the re-imagine is out, you will know it as I will go full throttle on everything.

“What about the rest of the physical copies of TTBTT?” I will use them for book fair appearances next year until “Between Us, There is Wish” is sorted. As I have a full time job that keeps me busy, I am not in a hurry selling what I have left, my story is more to help people than anything else.

I have temporarily removed the physical copy signed by the author section from the front page of this site, it will come back after my break.

I just need a break from anything book related, I want to focus on my mental health and most importantly my physical health, as I need to do better with my weight & other factors.

I will need to something to keep me busy on the creative front, as I always like to do something, I will most likely start to learn how to do watercolour as I bought a set a few weeks ago.

I want to say thank you to everyone who has been supporting me, it truly means a lot and I hope you can continue to support me with the re-imagine that I’ve got planned, I’ve got a list of things that will keep me busy on my return that I can hype up.

Thank you for understanding.

Megan
