The One Piece live action, was everything I thought it was going to be!

Something different as I am not going to talk about a tv show that isn’t an anime, but is inspired by an anime and manga so fits into this blog.

I have got a whole post about why I love One Piece, so I will link that here so I don’t repeat myself.

I have been following all the news regarding the One Piece live action for the past few years as a lot of the people behind the series had conversations with the OP youtube community, which I like to watch for their reviews & group chats to say that they were fans and they had constant conversations with Oda, the author behind the series.

The love they shown in the series is something you can see, being a live action series with the first season only having 8 episodes to condense 100 chapters/61 episodes they were going to sacrifices regardless and happy with they have done.

The live action is doing its own thing while staying loyal to the source material and I think why it’s going to be great going forward to keep those who know One Piece and those who don’t, watching the series. Especially with the second season being confirmed, but it will be awhile til we see anything from that.

The cast, where to start… excellent choices!

Inaki is Luffy, end of. He has so earned the straw hat!

I could go into each of the straw hats, but I will show the straw hat cast doing stuff to promote the series, they had such great chemistry off and on the camera. It helps that a lot of the cast are OP fans and know their stuff, similar to Henry Cavill with The Witcher.

Minus the main crew, they are 2 actors who just smashed their parts.

First is Garp, the actor was just amazing, a OP fan who reads the manga or watches the anime will tell you that a lot of Garp’s scenes don’t actually happen to arcs later but as explained earlier, the live action are doing it’s own thing!

Garp is Scottish in this series and I love it!

The overall best actor in the whole thing, kind of stealing the show was… Buggy.

Like Luffy, Garp and even Zeff (shown above), the people behind the series found the perfect actor to bring Buggy to life!

As mentioned earlier, I’ve been following the whole thing for the past few years and seeing certain places like the Baratie brought to life, was like wow!

The ONLY thing I want to say that was a bit off with the series was towards the end, due to rushing through certain things, Sanji’s sudden interest in Nami at Arlong Park was a bit weird as he only spent a few scenes with her not really enough time to get to know her.

Part from that, I loved the series I have to say 9/10 (the 1 off because of the reason above).

It has a lot for OP fans and those who want to get into the series and don’t like the look of the 1000’s episodes & chapters (still ongoing) ahead of them.
