Author Update | June 2025

Hello everyone!

It’s been a fun month, let’s start off by talking about Manchester!

Yes, I have a small trip to the colourful city to check out a certain book shop.

You can watch the reel of the trip above, it took a 2 hour train journey both ways (Northampton to Rugby then to Manchester, then the opposite way back).

I have been to Manchester before but that was in 2006 for a Foo Fighters concert, so I didn’t really get to see the city, so glad I got around to seeing most of it, for the brief time I had I did see a lot (as I was doing this on a day off, back to the work the next day so I couldn’t be out for ages, sucks but I managed to do what I wanted to do).

But the main reason was Queer Lit, one of the bookshops in the UK you can purchase my first ever book aka The Trip Between the Two (along with Gays the Word in London & The Heath Bookshop in Birmingham), while I was there I did sign one of the physical copies.

Something I loved in Manchester, was the Gay Village. I would have checked out one of the bars in the area but I had my car back at the train station in Northampton so didn’t want to risk it (I know that didn’t need to have an alcoholic drink but you know).

The day after, the big July event I’ve been teasing for awhile was announced online!

That’s right, I am doing a joint author event with the amazing Mo Manning at the Heath Bookshop in Birmingham on 5th July.

By the time this post goes live, it’s only a week and a few days away from this amazing event, where me and my fellow author will talk about each other’s book & answer any questions. I honestly think this is going to be the most important event I will be doing in 2025 and I am making sure to prepare for it eg practising public speaking techniques. see my last post here to read my blog post talking about that.

Mo told me that he was reading my book to ask me questions about The Trip Between the Two, so I decided in return to read his new book, Rainbows and Lollipops. By the time I asked about doing the same for him, it wasn’t out let so I got an uncorrected proof copy.

Got to say that when it arrived, I got to say I was honestly blown away by the professionalism of how the book arrived. This has given me a goal of something to aim towards in my second book (more about that later in the post) when it gets released in the future.

It took me nearly a week to read Rainbows and Lollipops, mainly reading it during any free time I had alongside work and I just couldn’t put it down, I let my words in the Instagram post above do the talking on my overall thoughts.

I am super excited about this event, you can find the details for it here. I will be having a zoom call with Mo a day after this post goes live, so we can chat about things ahead of time as it’s going to be a great event for the both of us.

Something I got for future events after Birmingham are these, I really like how they turned out and been using these in videos eg Tiktok.

The last thing to talk about is that The Jump Between the Two is in the works!

I have been writing the manuscript recently and I have been making some great progress, I hope to have it finished around November. I am aiming to have the second book bigger than the first, bigger plots, more characters and more mysteries!

I think that’s everything for this post,

Thanks for reading!

Megan
