I am currently reading a lot of manga weekly, so thought I would share which series.

Note a few of these get translated into English every couple of weeks/months but still want to read them.

Akane-Banashi

Honestly this could be my no.1 favourite manga of 2024, this series has had a great chapter every week.

Shinta Arakawa wants nothing more than to pass his shin’uchi exam—the test that would make him a top-rank headliner and master storyteller in the traditional Japanese art of rakugo. Akane Osaki, his daughter and biggest fan, spies on him while he practices and learns his routines for herself. When rakugo master Issho Arakawa expels everyone after the exam with no explanation, a fire is lit inside Akane. From that day forth, she has had one goal—to avenge her father and prove his art was worthy of the title of shin’uchi.

Akane unintentionally stirs up a scandal when she’s discovered taking informal lessons from her father’s former teacher, Shiguma Arakawa. And she’s about to make even bigger waves because she is about to begin her first steps in climbing the ranks of a rakugo performer from zenza opening act to shin’uchi headliner is exchanging her secret lessons for formal training. But she’ll still have to finish high school and navigate her relationship with Shiguma’s existing apprentices, all while learning that becoming a stellar rakugoka takes much more than just being good at performing!

Performance art is another form of art and someone who is creative and loves discovering new things, this shonen series about Rakugo is amazing. I honestly love Akane as a character, I rated her as my no.1 best girl on anime/manga last year.

I am loving part 2 of the series so far, enough said!

A new chapter of this comes out every Saturday afternoon for me and it’s such a treat to read this nearly every week.

In short it’s a body swap story with a boy swapping bodies with his ex-girlfriend every couple of days. Currently only 1 volume and at the time this blog post goes live, 14 chapters. It’s really good and I hope you can give it a chance, it’s available to read for free via Manga Plus.

My Dog Becomes A Human

All of a sudden one day, all the dogs in the world became human and this manga goes into the lives of some of the owners with their different dogs and how differently they are as human. There hasn’t been a chapter I haven’t disliked so far, it’s really funny!

Outreijou

Plot wise it’s about some school girls who were on a school bus, crashing into a warehouse where some Yakuza were having a fight. Some of the Yakuza wake-up in the body of those school girls and they have to work out what happened. Up to 9 chapters so far and it’s so good!

Boyfriend Sometimes Girlfriend

A great gender swap story, do I need to say more?

Erm, I say google this.

The more I’m listing off these manga, longer this post is getting so I will end this post here. Maybe the list will be different next time?
