I be honest I have had this book for a few months, debating on doing a review but wasn’t sure, purely because of the cover!
I’m a not a girly girl sort of lass and this cover is a it too girly for my liking, I know why it’s girly but not a fan.
ON THE OTHER HAND, THE BOOK ITSELF IS AMAZING
A Heartwarming transgender love story, based on true events
A diary comic with an upbeat, adorable flair that tells the charming tale of Chii, a woman assigned male at birth. Her story starts with her childhood and follows the ups and downs of exploring her sexuality, gender and transition – as well as falling in love with a man who’s head over heels for her. Now, Chii is about to embark on a new adventure: becoming a bride!

So let’s begin with the review!
As it’s a diary format, how it’s separated into parts is really good, it’s going to help with this review a lot as I want to talk about some of them, not all otherwise this book will be really long!
I will be using some pics from the online version of the book which has a slightly different translation than the physical book.
How we met

The first chapter covers how the two main characters met, I remember this a lot from the first time I read this as I just had to tweet about it because I would worry about the same thing as someone who is transgender look for love.
I love that Chii was able to find an understanding guy, I wonder when I can find such a person?
I do love how this book is very informative regarding what a transgender person has go to through and has single pages covering things like the Pride Rainbow flag which is put in after page 1.

This is just before chapter 2 and I have to agree with Chii on this!
Bride-chan’s Time As A Boy

I was intrigued when I first read this book to give me a showing of the past from someone transgender, up to that point I only had my experiences and gender bending fantasy manga which isn’t really realistic.
I just love the author for sharing their past, I thank them so now I know I’m not the only one who had these thoughts growing up.
The other chapters cover the surgery that Chii/Bride-chan went through, which I went into in a previous post here, so I won’t talk about that here.

The book also goes into the two families meeting, marriage eg Chii/Bride-chan becoming a wife aka what the book has led up to but I’ve decided go too much in this as this book is really informative, so informative that I have mentioned the word 3 times so far in this review
I have to recommend this to anyone be it friend/family/work to get a true insight of someone who has transitioned and their journey.
Of course everyone is different and everyone who is transgender has had it different to someone else in the same boat but it helps to get some understanding on what someone like me has to go through
This book has hit me hard as its given me so much to think about in regard to my future eg relationships that I have had doubts about up to this point in my life and continue to do so.
You can find the book via amazon (UK) here, I hope you can give this small author your support!
