Recently I have only ever talked about anime in an anime-roundup post, so thought I break my routine by doing a ranking post and this is going to be a challenge because I’ve watched a lot as of late.
My Happy Marriage, Duke of Death & His Maid, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, Dangers in my heart, Kimi ni Todoke: From Me To You. Hi-score girl, Romantic Killer, Toradora, Teasing Master, Lycoris Recoil, Kotaro lives alone, The Way Of The House Husband, Komi Can’t Communicate, Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible, Uncle From Another World, Backstreet Girls Gokudolls, Carole & Tuesday, My Clueless Friend, Insomniacs After School, The Cafe Terrace & it’s Goddesses, Loving Yamada at Lvl999, My Annoying Senpai, The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten, Super Cub, Honobono Log, The Yakuza Guide To Babysitting, Do you love my mum and her two-hit multi-target attacks?, Ayakashi Triangle, The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today, March Comes In Like A Lion, Stop!!! Hibari-kun
All the anime I’ve watched from around April/May to now
This is going to be a top 10 list in reverse order, sooooooo lets start the ranking!
10. Backstreet Girls Gokudolls.
This is hands down the funniest anime watched in many years, more funny than Uncle From Another World which provided me with some laughs. It’s about some lads who are part of the Yakuza, mess up some big time and the boss makes them get surgery in Thailand to become idols to make some money.
The reason why it’s low on the list is because of the animation as it’s sloppy at times, maybe it was an artistic choice but I wasn’t a fan but the comedy made up for it.
9. Honobono Log
This is probably the only anime on this list I can get someone to watch on their lunch break to try to get them into Japanese anime because the whole series is 10 2 minute long episodes such as the one above, which I think you should watch 🙂
The reason why it’s low on the list is because it’s short but I loved everything else about it, highly recommend it though!
8. Romantic Killer
I confess I am not really a big fan of harem anime and this is only one of two I have watched recently BUT it was really good from start to finish.
I highly recommend checking this series out via Netflix, you will love the opening song as it’s quite catchy!
7. My Clueless Friend
When it comes to adorable slice of life romantic anime, this goes to the top as the story is extremely adorable about young kids becoming friends and looking like they are going to become more?!
Got to say that there was a lot of better progression in a romantic anime compared to others I’ve watched aka Kimi ni Todoke: From Me To You, which I went into here.
6. March Comes In Like A Lion
I never thought I watch an anime about a Shogi (google it) player but this story goes into Shogi (as the main character is a professional despite being a teenager), loss and family be it his estranged sister or the girls featured in the video above who look after him but won’t go anymore than that as the story is well worth a watch/read.
I am not a fan of the opening but this is still high up on the list because of the story and the animation, on the animation is so beautiful that i’m in awe again looking at it!
5. Kotaro Lives Alone
This isn’t a happy anime, this deals with serious subjects like child abuse.
This is up high on the list because of how the series deals with this with its good cast and animation to help with it.
4. Dangers In My Heart
This has to be, hands down, my favourite romantic school anime I have watched this year.
The romance between the two main characters is so good, that I am currently reading the manga until the next season comes around (most likely next year).
How the main guy first wants to kill the love interest to then develop romantic feelings for her, really got my attention.
3. The Duke of Death & His Maid
If you have been reading the previous weeks Anime round-up, you will know I have been loving this series, so in short I love it because of the animation the creators picked was, the openings (such as the one above) and the chemistry between the Duke & his maid!
2. Carole & Tuesday
Oh this was such a difficult choice to have this at no.1 or not and in the end I decided the other anime is slightly better but not by much.
I love music along with anime and Carole & Tuesday provides an excellent combination of the two, so much that I’ve got the soundtrack on Spotify on repeat!
This series comes from the people who brought us Cowboy Bebop, an anime classic who brings us with a great story about how Carole & Tuesday saved mars!
- Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury
Yes, Gundam and Girls win my ranking of anime I’ve watched so far this year!
I just had to choose giant robots over a band becoming big because of the previous Gundam series I watched (eg Zeta and Unicorn),
I go into why I loved Gundam in Anime Round-up Episode 2 & Episode 3 but in short it’s because of the pay-off of seeing the two main characters of Suletta and Miorine get together at the end of the two seasons.
Of course the Gundam fights were great along with the supporting cast such as Prospera, a great mother character who was cunning from start to finish!
With that, you got to give me your favourite anime along with your thoughts on my ranking in the comments below.
Thanks for reading!
