Time for Episode 3 of Anime Roundup!
This week involved the last episode of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, which I will get to later in this post.
But before that, let us talk about The Duke of Death and his Maid, this is an anime that I found out has got a second season starting at the start of July so thought I check it out.
The series follows a young duke, whom at the age of 5 was cursed by a witch with the ability to kill anything he touches so his family leaves him in a house with just his butler and maid.
The duke starts to develops feelings for his maid Alice, but unable to touch her gives him the motivation to look for a cure for his curse.
Honestly enjoyed this show, it reminded me of something Tim Burton would do as it has a gothic vibe, heck it even has witches and set in a Victorian era. I am looking forward to talk about season 2 from next week!
I saw an anime ranking list of couples in the series going on at the moment, which included The Duke of Death, Skip and Loafer (I’m reading the manga so not watching the anime), My Clueless First Friend, Witch from Mercury and Insomniacs after school.
I occasionally insomnia if I finish covering night bread shifts at work so Insomniacs after school got my attention.
So, as you can tell it’s about a boy and a girl at school who suffer from… Insomnia (who would have guessed?)
As it’s a slice of life story set in a school it does deal with the school tropes of a school festival, field trips alongside a fireworks festival & a trip to the beach while showing the two dealing with insomnia after they find each other trying to catch up on sleep in the schools abandoned astronomy club observatory.

From they bring back the Astronomy club so they don’t lose their special place, this involves photography and how the anime shows the whole process of taking pictures of the night sky and stars is really informative and cool.
Of course, they start to have feelings for each other and have to wait for a possible season 2 or read the manga to find out what happens but honestly loved the story, how insomnia is explained and God the visuals are just stunning!
Similar to how I discovered Insomniacs after School, I saw another ranking post on Facebook about the most talked about anime of the summer this year and The Café Terrace and its Goddesses was pretty high.
Unlike the rest of the anime, I have watched as of late, this series is a Harem anime…
This is one of the oldest and kind of popular genre of anime that is mainly about a boy surrounded and loved by a big group of girls with a variety of different personalities, essential it deals with a particular Japanese gender role fantasy.
Not really my cup of tea but decided to give this a watch and got to admit I was hooked from start to finish with the ending leaving you with some theories on what happened between the main character and the girls.
If I had to choose a girl, it would have to be Akane but won’t say the reason.
Again, this isn’t my sort of genre I would normally watch but I did enjoy it and I would recommend it.
Loving Yamada at Lvl999 is anime I have seen being talked about so much on youtube and facebook as of late that I finally got around to watching it on Friday/Saturday and got to say, I can see why the hype.
Really good story with yet another character called Akane, it has come to a point it’s just a normal name for me nowadays…
After her boyfriend breaks up with her for another girl, college student Akane Kinoshita wrestles with a broken heart and the memories he left behind. Loading up Forest of Savior, the MMO they used to play together, she forms a plan to get back at her ex-boyfriend through an in-person event for the game. In the process, she runs into someone unexpected: Akito Yamada, a gaming legend who just happens to be her guildmate.
Desperate for support, Akane ropes the asocial Yamada into helping with her scheme and lending her a shoulder to cry on. The differences between Akane and Yamada soon become apparent as they spend time together, yet they cannot help but notice each other’s inner qualities. As the two gain more experience with one another in and out of the game, their tentative acquaintance may level up in a way neither expects.
As mentioned earlier, I am a sucker for slice of life and this being a high school/college one. Found this image above that shows how much I love it; I’ve seen 7 of the 11 anime mentioned above.
As someone who plays an online game (Final Fantasy 14) time to time, the gaming aspect really stuck out to me and I just loved the story from start to end.
8/10 highly recommend
Wow what a great final episode to Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury!
I am so happy with it, so glad I was able to catch the second season when it started and I will so be rewatching this in the future and possibly get a Gundam model kit?!
As expected from a finale of Gundam, you get some awesome battles, some space Jesus magic at work (example/ how people were able to push a meteor back into orbit using Gundam’s such as in Chars Counterattack above), I believe a Zeta Gundam reference among many, family issues were resolved and a marriage at the end for the two love interests!

Spoiler but I just love this image so much, even got it on my laptop background.
This is the end of the storyline for Suletta and that but I believe there will be more stories set in the same universe in the future and I am super excited for that, I need to find other anime to cover the void such as The Duke of Death and his maid 2nd season and that.
If you have never watched a Gundam series before, I highly recommend checking this series out, just need to watch the prologue before the first season and that is it.
A great gift to finish this off is that Yoasobi, one of my favourite bands at the moment, whom done the first season opening song (same for Oshi No Ko/My Star with the song Idol) has released a video of their live performance of it, how cool is that?!
I think I need to end so I can relax, this was such a great way to end the post!
